Wonder for Wonder’s Sake
I already express whimsy outwardly through how I dress, think Crayola box, but I want to start living it again too. I want to jump into muddy puddles while being fully aware that I am a grown woman who still has washing to put on. Take my shoes off at the seaside because my toes have requested contact with the Earth. Buy bubbles for absolutely no child-related reason. Start a water-balloon fight that becomes far more competitive than anybody intended.
Finger-paint with my children until somebody inevitably puts paint on somebody else’s face and civilisation collapses. 😂 I want to run through woodland simply because there’s a path and my brain has decided we’re in a fairy tale. Pick up strange shells, stones, leaves and sticks like an eight-year-old natural historian. Make daisy chains, which I genuinely haven’t done in years. 😂 Fly a kite badly. Go out in the rain on purpose. Eat something purely because it is a ridiculous colour.
And maybe lie in the grass looking for shapes in clouds, or go somewhere just to watch the sunset with absolutely no secondary objective attached. Just a little more wonder for wonder’s sake.
